Project Name
Beyond Linear: Embracing the Beauty of Curves in Modern Kitchen Living
Project Overview
In the bustling suburb of St Heliers, Auckland, a young family sought a kitchen that would not only cater to their practical needs but also serve as the central hub of their home. This project aimed to create a contemporary kitchen design that seamlessly blended with the open-plan layout, providing a warm and inviting space for both family gatherings and socializing with friends. By incorporating sophisticated materials, thoughtful spatial planning, and a vibrant colour scheme, this kitchen stands as a testament to modern living.
Design Concept
The key driving force behind this kitchen design was the desire to create a family-centric space that could effortlessly accommodate various activities. The open-plan layout, shared with the dining, lounge, and study nook, facilitated seamless interaction and connectivity. To soften the overall ambiance and add an element of sophistication, the kitchen incorporated Corian Valente Grigio, a sleek and versatile material that harmonized with the surrounding environment.
Kitchen Island
The centrepiece of this kitchen is the meticulously designed island. Embracing fluidity and comfort, the island features a gentle curve that not only softens the space but also encourages natural movement and enhances the flow of activities. Its spacious countertop invites family members, especially the kids, to gather around, engage in homework, and foster meaningful connections. The island acts as a multi-functional space, seamlessly transitioning from a practical work surface to a vibrant social hub.
Colour Palette and Cabinetry
To infuse the kitchen with character and sophistication, a meticulously selected colour palette was employed. Dezignatek Pistachio and Peltro, with the Lyon profile, were chosen for the cabinetry, creating a harmonious contrast against the neutral backdrop. The Pistachio cabinets evoke a sense of gentle freshness and vitality, while the Peltro cabinets exude an air of refined elegance. The Lyon profile, with its subtle lines and timeless appeal, adds a touch of understated charm to the overall design.
Why did you use Corian?
Corian Valente Grigio was chosen as the benchtop material for its unique ability to be curved. My clients were captivated by the elegant and softened effect it added to their kitchen design. The curved Corian benchtop became a visually stunning focal point, enhancing the aesthetic of the living space of their home.
The soft grey veining provides a sense of calmness and sophistication, creating a welcoming atmosphere for the family. Corian was also chosen for its durability and easy maintenance, knowing that the benchtop will withstand the demands of their busy lifestyle while remaining pristine and easy to clean. Additionally, the seamless integration of Corian allows for a smooth and uninterrupted surface, providing a functional and visually appealing space for their everyday activities. The family is delighted with their choice of Corian Valente Grigio as their benchtop, as it combines both style and practicality to enhance their kitchen experience.
The incorporation of a curved Corian Valente Grigio benchtop adds a touch of elegance and softness, setting it apart from traditional linear designs. This feature not only enhances the visual appeal but also promotes better flow and connectivity within the kitchen and surrounding spaces.
